Some Cool SEO Uses For GPT3 Chat
Over the past month, there have been a number of articles about how to use GPT3 Chat’s AI to improve SEO productivity. So I figured it was my duty to pile on.
Here now I present 22 cool SEO things you can do with GPT3 Chat:
1. Generate quick breadcrumb navigation HTML for web pages
2. Identify schema markup
3. Generate structured JSON-LD structured data
4. Generating Regex statements
These can be useful in a few ways such as plugging them into Google search console or writing regex statements for a crawler like ScreamingFrog.
We work on a lot of local sites, so writing regex for a crawler to only grab specific types of pages is a very useful function. For example, you can create regex rules for ScreamingFrog to crawl different directories on a site like Yelp.
For example, figure out all the different URL types. For example:
- https://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=healthy+food&find_loc=Southlake%2C+TX+76092
- https://www.yelp.com/biz/crabby-crabby-san-leandro-3
- https://www.yelp.com/map/crabby-crabby-san-leandro-3
- https://www.yelp.com/nearme/places-to-eat
If we want to narrow our scope of crawled pages to drill down on locations you can use a prompt like the one below.
Additionally, you can do this by category if you need to crawl or filter only product or service category listings on yelp.
And you can also use it for specific business names to see their listings like this one for the restaurant Crabby Crabby.
5. Generate Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
6. Quickly generate an outline for long-form content and identify the major topics/sections of the page
7. Building Meta descriptions
8. Building a table of contents with jump links for a page’s main sections.
Prompt: Can you build an HTML table of contents with jump links to the h2 headings for this page’s content: https://www.localseoguide.com/local-seo-tools/
9. Automate writing eCommerce product descriptions at scale
This allows you to use Google sheets so you can upload a list and generate the description directly in the document instead of having to copy and paste a ton of different prompts and outputs.

10.Robots.txt file generation
GPT3 chat will generate robots.txt files for you and you can even add different rules in for Googlebot and Bingbot.
You can also check to see if any strings are being blocked by the current rules in a robots.txt file.
11. XML Sitemap generation
12. Identify related search queries for a keyword
13. Custom GTM tags generation
14. Identify popular/trending hashtags in your niche
15. Get the list of possible Quora questions for a topic
16. Get the list of possible Reddit questions for a topic
17. Ask for image suggestions to make your content stand out
Adding onto this you can use AI tools like Midjourney for generating AI images. It’s most useful for images without text as the tool has difficulty producing text in the images but can be used for:
- Infographic templates
- Hero/web page images
- Logo ideas
- Product illustrations/photos
Prompt: Hero image of a person using a computer
Prompt: Create a cycle process infographic with 4 steps
Prompt: Create an infographic that shows the steps of a cybersecurity risk analysis for a company
It does require a bit of specificity, and if you use it for infographics then you’ll need to edit over the text, but it would be a good starting point to get you going.
You can also use it to create other images like logos or favicons.
Prompt: 4k logo for rental property company called Bee One, black, yellow, bee, one
Prompt: Create an image of a happy customer buying a car
These could be used to supplement service or location pages to add unique content without having to create illustrations or take photos manually.
18. Summarize your content for sharing
Whether it’s on social media or to create handy TLDR/major takeaway sections for the beginning or end of your articles, GPT3 can be very effective at summarising information into bite-sized forms.
You can also transform your content into an email promotion or newsletter more easily or even summarize information for communication with non-technical stakeholders.
Prompt: Summarize this case study in 3 sentences
Prompt: Can you bullet the significant takeaways from this article?
19. Quickly create outlines for content briefs
20. Generating unique email outreach templates for link-building or getting more customer Google reviews
This can help you automate review outreach to build out a company’s Google reviews and make several unique templates.
21. Generate Alternative titles
You can also do this in the tone/voice of different people, but this can have mixed (and sometimes funny) results.
22. Create .htaccesss files to redirect URLs
The limitations of GPT3
GPT3 has limitations that have been expanded on here, but a few major ones are that it can give incorrect information from time to time so it shouldn’t be used on YMYL topics. It also can’t produce quality, long-form content and requires specific instructions for prompts. AI-generated content, including GPT3, can also be detected by Google and demoted. Lastly, it should be noted that GPT3 doesn’t know about any content created after 2021, so if you are relying on it without a human editor, then some information may be outdated.
